Two young alumni, Kailey Swiger (’15) and Tate Morgan (’17), have found their professional paths at Stanley Korshak, exemplifying the power of the Darlington network and the values instilled during their time at the school. Stanley Korshak, based in Dallas, Texas, is a hallmark of luxury and exceptional service and the largest independent department store in the United States. Owned by recent Darlington Distinguished Alumnus Award recipient, Crawford Brock (’72), the store is not only a leader in the fashion industry but also a testament to the strength of Darlington connections. In today’s feature, we highlight how Darlington connections have played a pivotal role in shaping their careers and learn more about their journeys, passions, and reflections on their Darlington experiences.

My colleague, Dr. Celeste Rivers, and I recently attended the Georgia Dyslexia Association's annual conference in Milledgeville. In addition to the engaging keynote speeches, the conference offered a series of breakout sessions that provided us the chance to delve into specific topics relevant to our work.
Recently, the Young Alumni Council organized two engaging Senior Transition Panels, offering valuable insights and advice to the entire senior class at Darlington School. The council members shared their personal experiences and knowledge on various aspects of the college life.
Librarians with a growth mindset must intentionally seek out opportunities to interact and connect with librarians on a larger scale beyond the walls of their individual institutions. The American Library Association Annual Conference gave Pre-K to 8 Librarian Mary-Kate Fowee and me, Upper School Librarian Jordan West, a chance to do just that at the largest national professional library conference this summer in San Diego, Calif.
We are excited to share some transitions have taken place in the Advancement Office at Darlington. Hannah Willerson ('19) joined us in June as advancement services officer, I have moved into a different role as campaign director, and Ella (Carpenter) Givens (’17) has joined us as director of annual giving.
In October, I was able to travel to Western Massachusetts and visit each of the member colleges of the Five Colleges Consortium: Hampshire College, Amherst College, Smith College, Mount Holyoke College, and University of Massachusetts Amherst. Each of the colleges was unique and catered to different students but because of their close ties, every student is able to take advantage of classes and programs at all five campuses.
Mark Rogers (’94, LD ’12) exemplifies Darlington’s mission of “Service Beyond Self” through his dedication to military service and meaningful volunteer work, especially within the Darlington Community.

Our Upper School Band applauds Will Bowerman for making this year’s District VII High School Honors Jazz Band. A sophomore day student who has been playing trumpet in Darlington’s band program since fourth grade, he is the first Darlington band member to make this honors band at the high school level.
Leah Lynn, technology integration coordinator, had the opportunity to attend the International Society for Technology in Education Conference this summer as part of her Thatcher Professional Development Grant.
World Languages Department Head Cristy Baldwin was a presenter and attendee of the Fluency Matters Conference, put together by Wayside Publishing in Denver, Colo., in July.
I had the opportunity to attend the Southern Association for College Admission Counseling (SACAC) Summer Training Seminar in Asheville, N.C., in July. The purpose of the seminar is to give new college counselors an overview of the college application and acceptance process as well as a forum to discuss emerging topics in the college admissions process.

Technology is a tool used in Darlington's Upper School Library to promote literacy and show our students that there is no limit to what they can learn, and in turn, what they can achieve. As an Apple Distinguished School, Darlington offers advanced tools that empower students to lead and innovate in the digital age of literacy and education.
It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of the passing of Life Trustee, 2009 Distinguished Alumnus, and dedicated community member John Hine (’53) on Sept. 16. He was a true embodiment of Darlington's values, and his life was marked by exceptional leadership, selfless service, and an unwavering commitment to the betterment of our school and the greater Rome community.
This year, our Darlington Connects alumni series will focus on our amazing volunteers. Today, we hear from Kim Parnell ('98, LD '23) a former boarding student, current Class Agent, Leadership Darlington graduate, and new Alumni Council member. Kim currently lives in Rome and works as senior solutions specialist with Cvent.
